The commercial is hosted on Gentle Giant’s YouTube Channel, but can also be viewed here on the Allston Piano Movers blog:

Allston Piano Gets an Education!

Back in 2007, Allston Piano Movers helped deliver a dozen Steinert Pianos to Tufts University, which changed their music department. Tufts recently posted a nice video on their webpage, chronicling this big purchase. Take a look towards the end to see the Allston Piano Truck.

Piano Moving Doesn’t Require Boxes, But Boxing Helps…

Well, I knew the great singer Mario Lanza had been a piano mover, but now I find out that he and I have something else in common. We both have done some boxing. Now, if I could just develop my vocal chords…

The truth of the matter is that piano moving has always attracted some very interesting characters. Even though I have been in the business, I really can’t tell you how it happens, but I like to think that folks come into the piano moving business as regular folks, but after they are surrounded by the interesting colleagues, customers, and type of work required, they change a bit. For the best of course.

I find it also takes a certain type of person to make in the piano moving business because not everyone can wake up before the sun, move pianos all day in completely unpredictable conditions, and keep a smile on their face throughout.

I am proud to say that all the guys that work at Allston Piano Movers fit the profile of strong, personable, and unique! Give us a call at 617-489-4755.

Allston Piano Movers Get Trained by the Masters at Steinert

On January 18, 2012 the Allston Piano Movers had the privilege of attending are Steinway training session conducted by Jonathan Tetzlaff at M. Steinert and Sons, Boston. The session was coordinated by Jonathan and Allston Piano Mover’s Bobby Franklin. It was a great day that included a detailed discussion of Steinway pianos and a tour of the building including a wonderful visit to the historic Steinert Hall. Paul Murphy gave a brief lecture on the history of M. Steinert & Sons as well as an overview of the rich legacy the piano industry has in Boston. We all learned much in our quest to improve our skills and knowledge as well as honing our abilities to perform a top notch job as the final step in the each sale of the finest pianos in the world. Working with Jonathan, Steve Dawe, Jerome and Paul Murphy along with their outstanding sales staff is always a pleasure and an honor.

Allston Piano Movers with Famed Radio Personality Christopher Lydon

Recently, Allston Piano Movers did a return move of a Grotrian Grand for our long time client and good friend Christopher Lydon. Chris has a beautiful grand piano which gives him much enjoyment and we were pleased to be able to return it to its home after being in storage while renovations were done.

Chris is a pleasure to work with and always has great stories to tell us while we are moving his piano. Gentle Giant’s Mitch “Have Camera, Will Travel” Curtis shot this terrific video of the move:

Allston Piano at the M. Steinert Sale

Here are a couple of shots from the M. Steinert Sale we did a couple of months ago.

One shot is of the crew posing on the steps behind the Walden Woods Piano.

The other shot is of the crew standing in front of the squash courts that are being erected. Most people don’t know about the squash championships that are held at Symphony. Here’s a link to a page about it:

Allston Piano Movers Rock & Roll in Walden Woods

Over the past year we have had the privilege of moving the one of a kind Walden Woods Steinway Grand Piano. Our crack team of piano movers has moved the instrument from its home at Walden Woods to M. Steinert & Sons then over to Symphony Hall and back to Walden Woods. This piano is for sale for $500,000.00 with the proceeds to go to the Walden Woods Foundation. Enjoy these photos of the Allston Piano Movers in action. We at Allston Piano do not live lives of quiet desperation. How could we when we are involved in such exciting projects.

This article gives some of the history behind the piano:

How Allston Piano Perfected Museum Quality Piano Moving

Recently we moved a 9’ Steinway from the Tapestry Room on the 2nd floor at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum to the new Renzo Piano designed wing that is scheduled to open in January 2012. This is a very exciting time for all of those at the museum and Allston Piano is proud to have played a part in this historic event. I am including a link to a webpage that has details about the new wing:

During the past couple of months we have moved two Fazioli Grand Pianos for our valued customers. Faziolis are handcrafted in Sacile, Italy and are among the most expensive pianos in the world. Entry price for one of these beautiful instruments is $85,000.00, and they reach prices of over $500,000.00. The owners of these fine pianos have entrusted Allston Piano with the care and handling of these fine instruments.

Allston Piano Gives an Education on Relocation at Boston College

On September 2, 2011 the Allston Piano Moving team of professionals tackled a number of piano moves at Boston College. This video shows the Allston Giants moving a 9’ Steinway concert grand down from the 3rd floor at the beautiful Bapst Library. This is an excellent example of the skill and team work displayed by Pat Andrus and his crew as they navigate turns while protecting the gorgeous marble stairs.

Dealing with a fine instrument that weighs close to 1000 lbs in such a delicate situation is not something most movers want to deal with, but our team looked forward to the challenge and did a great job. I’ve been moving pianos since I was a teenager and have worked with some great movers over the years. When I say I am impressed by what I am seeing in the way Gentle Giant has learned the techniques involved in doing difficult moves in such a top notch manner, it is an understatement. They are the best.

Enjoy the video!
